Dr. Koenig Giving Gus his Regular Acupuncture Treatment
Finding a balance between holistic and conventional therapies for our pets can be extremely beneficial. And, having an “integrative” approach can improve their lives, and our lives, in so many ways. I have learned so much about the benefits of acupuncture, chiropractic, herbs, homeopathy, and, of course, proper diet and want to educate people on those benefits. Further, I’ve discovered how titer testing, instead of continual vaccination, is extremely helpful in minimizing the harmful effects of over-vaccination.
Toby Enjoying his Acupuncture Treatment!
My “Wholistic” approach to pet health workshop includes: a balanced discussion on proper diet, exercise and minimizing toxins in the environment. You will learn: how to determine if a pet food is truly a high quality and natural food; the differences between grain free pet foods (including raw diets), all life stage foods, age and breed appropriate diets and other “specialty foods” on the market today; and how to determine which pet food is right for your pet based on many factors including age, weight, activity level and general health.
My Pet Health Library
There will also be discussion about a few common pet health ailments that can often be improved by changes in diet, lifestyle and adding supplements. Further, we will touch on the basics of acupuncture, chiropractic adjustments, herbals, and homeopathics and how these modalities can be so beneficial to your pets.
My presentations will focus mainly on dogs and cats, as that is where the vast majority of my experience originates. I can tailor the discussions to your specific group (i.e. only dogs for a dog training club or only cats for a cat rescue group) upon request. Typically, I make references to both dogs and cats in my discussions as many people have multiple pet households.
Starting a Business…
Having owned a successful retail business for almost twelve years has given me an incredible amount of experience and insight into what it takes to start and manage a small business. There is no crystal ball that allows you to see into the future, however, the right amount of preparation and having a clear plan in place can help you to succeed with your business.
My workshop on how to start a small business includes: a discussion on the importance of a business plan and we will start a business plan together; the common mistakes people make when starting a business and how to avoid them; the different business legal structures (DBA, S Corporation, LLC) and the importance of customer service in today’s competitive business environment and pointers on keeping your customers and your team happy.
Guest Speaker Seminars…
Occasionally, I will be hosting other guest speakers who are “experts in their field” to discuss a wide variety of relevant pet health & wellness topics including: alternative veterinary medicine (acupuncture, acupressure, chiropractic, herbs, homeopathy, and Reiki); pet behavior and training; vaccinations and titer testing; animal communication; and pet bereavement. We also encourage people to make suggestions for relevant topics and/or speakers for future events.
Please contact me at email@example.com for more information and pricing structures.
Ever since I can remember, animals have always been a huge part of my life. The gravitational pull toward companion animals and wildlife, alike, has been ever present and, without sounding too cliché, “life without animals…I don’t think so!”
Many people may know me from my nearly 12 years of owning The Animal Kingdom,
originally located in the Village of Hamburg, then relocated, in 2004, to Orchard Park, New York. The store evolved over the course of many years and became a place where like minded, animal loving people could find the best natural pet foods and supplements, helpful information and meet other people who shared the same fondness for animals.
I really believe that people have always been able to see my sincere and genuine concern and compassion for them and their pets. Having had dogs, cats, hamsters, fish, and even a horse over the course of my 45 year life has given me lots of experience with pet nutrition, pet diseases, behavioral issues and pet ownership, in general.
Our Kitty Experts…Smudge, Fuzz & Toby
After selling the store in 2012, it didn’t take me very long to realize that I needed to find an outlet for all of the knowledge that I had gained through attending seminars, reading many books, talking to holistic and conventional veterinarians, and compiling all of the shared experiences of our customers.
I have always tried to find a balance when it comes to holistic and conventional therapies for my pets and myself. Basically, if it’s good enough for me, it’s certainly good enough for my pets. I believe that having an “integrative” approach has improved all of our lives in so many ways. And, I have learned so much about the benefits of acupuncture, chiropractic, herbs, homeopathy, and, of course, proper diet.
My Beloved Mare, “Sara Bint Shaikh,” A True Champion
The Pets Perspective was born out of my desire to continue my quest for knowledge. I am hoping that this website and blog will “empower people and their pets with information.” I am also hoping that by conducting mini workshops and hosting other seminars on a variety of pet related topics in the future, I can still help educate pet parents as they are making decisions for their pets.
I am confident that this will continue to be a very satisfying and enjoyable journey and hope you will join me.

I am finally here….WOW, you are famous now! ) I have so many questions to ask you…I have a YEAST problem…you know my mom is fanatical about taking care of me…a little overboard at times…LOl..Anyway, my yeast problem is mainly affecting the warm spots of my body ( arm pits, butt and female parts…and the front of my legs and chest…just a small amount in the ears)….I am scratching myself RAW….I am eating a very good grain free dog food from your old stomping grounds…some raw bones…a little goat milk …and of course I stay away from human food! My mom ( Tammy) has taken me to the vets…they pumped me with Benedryl and send me home….Now mom is not happy with this…She is driving herself crazy cleaning the house up ( no fragrances or unhealthy cleaning products)…spraying with eucalyptus ( pure essential oil blend she makes herself) to rid the house of dust mites…BUT nothing is helping…here is the problem Kelly….when I stay at the kennel for 15 days I COMPLETELY heal….ALL my food remains the same, she sends me with my own bed ( the fancy one she bought from you)…the only thing that I do not get at the kennel is my Raw bones….once I am home for about 3 days…it all comes back…I do stink a little ( just like yeast)….Mom has been giving me tea tree oil baths followed with a RAW apple cider vinegar rinse…for a few days I seem to relax a bit…BUT again it all comes back….what to do….Would a nice dog lover lady like you have any suggestions? The other lady Julie gave me a new holistic doctor to go see…we’re gonna make an appointment…But since you led mom on the right path with my food to begin with…well, we kind of trust you BIG TIME….oh …I’m the really cute american bulldog with one black eye and one white….I am hard to forget….Big sloppy dog kisses to you…Hope all is well with you…we think about you all the time…I heard you see my friend Valerie too…geez , I miss her! Stay well….be healthy, happy and beautiful! Bindi and Tammy

I receive questions regarding my vaccination practices for my pets fairly often. Vaccinations are a topic that can produce a great deal of passionate debate within the human or animal community. All of my pets are vaccinated as required by law and as needed, but they are titer tested first to confirm whether or not …
